On the road to Alaska - Northwest Territories (June 5-11)

The next destination on our travels was the Northwest Territories (NWT).  We drove the Waterfalls route, with a detour up to Yellowknife which is the territorial capital.  The drive took us through the MacKenzie Bison Sanctuary and along some very bumpy roads.  It was interesting, with some pretty waterfalls,  but as picturesque as the Rockies.  One of the highlights was Sambaa Deh Falls Territorial Park.  In addition to two waterfalls, there were also coral fossils all along the river bed.  We spent a fun afternoon poking around in the rocks.
