On the road to Alaska - a little British Columbia and Yukon Territories - June 11-16

After touring the Northwest Territories, we head back south a bit to pick up the Alaska Highway just west of Fort Nelson in British Columbia.  The highway crosses the border between British Columbia and Yukon Territories several times before getting to Whitehorse.  While traveling that stretch of the Alaska Highway, we saw more animals in a single day than we have any other day so far.

Watson Lake Signpost Forest.  The picture doesn't do it justice.  It was amazing to see.

We spent a few days in Whitehorse, which is the territorial capitol of the Yukon.

Sam McGee's cabin at the McBride Museum in Whitehorse.
Sam was made famous by the Robert Service poem "The Cremation of Sam McGee".
Sam was a real person, but he wasn't cremated.  He didn't even die in the Yukon, but it is a fun poem.

  1. Just from your picture I am going to add Toad River to my campground list (the Hot Springs were already on there). Thanks!
