It is all happening... fast!

Retirement time is approaching and things are really coming together - only a bit faster than we expected.

After almost 3 months of sorting, purging and cleaning, we finally put our house on the market last week.  It went on the MLS Tuesday night and the lock box went on Wednesday morning.  By Wednesday evening, we had an offer and by Thursday afternoon, we had a ratified contract!  We were expecting the house to sell fairly quickly - maybe in 2-3 weeks, but 1 day?!  Wow!  It was definitely a pleasant surprise, but also a bit scary as they want to close quickly.  We will have less than 2 weeks after I retire to get everything packed and out of here - The self packing option we had been considering just came off the table.

My mom also sold her Florida home this past week.  Brett flew down on Wednesday and is in the process of driving her back here to Virginia.  She will spend a couple of weeks with us before we take her the rest of the way to Connecticut.

Brett is headed to North Carolina on Wednesday to hang out for a few days with the daughter of friends while they are out of town.

Our truck camper is (or was) in the process of being built in Oregon and should be delivered to the dealer in New Hampshire by the end of March.  With packing and moving, we aren't sure when we will get up there to pick it up.  Bill Penney told us not to worry about it - his lot looks like the north pole now and will be a mud pit in a few weeks, so there is no hurry.

With my retirement only 2 weeks away, my social calendar has really filled up!  There are lunches, happy hours, and/or dinners scheduled almost every day.  I am grateful for the opportunity to say good bye to the folks I have worked with over the last 23 years and am humbled that so many people want to wish me well.  I will definitely miss the people of Fannie Mae!

Add in concerts and doctors appointments that were planned when we still thought Brett would be working until May, and it all makes for a hectic, slightly stressful, but really exciting time.
