Idaho and Montana - August 5-10

After leaving Washington, we spent one night in Idaho before crossing in to Montana on our way to Yellowstone NP.  In Montana, we spent one night in Missoula, two nights in Virginia City, and one night in West Yellowstone, just outside the park.  The scenery was pretty - cattle ranches, rolling hills, small towns.  It all looked like the set for a western movie.

We really enjoyed Virginia City and its neighboring town, Nevada City.  The area was the site of the largest placer gold strike in the US.  Many of the buildings are originals from the gold rush days. Almost the entire town of Nevada City is a living history museum - it was fun and a great place for photography.
