I have always wanted to travel the US, to visit the wild spaces of the many National and State Parks. Traveling in an RV appealed to us - camping puts you closer to nature plus you get to sleep in your own bed every night. We have been researching RVs for the last several years and had decided to buy a fifth wheel trailer. We had a brand and model all picked out. Then we went to Alaska for a 2 week vacation, and started wondering... “What will we do with a fifth wheel if we need to turn around on one of these small dirt roads?” A truck plus the trailer would be almost 50 feet long! Not a great choice for visiting the back roads. So it was back to researching.
We had a few requirements - a full length queen bed and a bathroom with a shower. Brett wanted a 4x4 and to be able to use the truck separately. Most important of all, we wanted to be able to turn down an interesting looking side road and not have to worry about what would happen if there was a dead end. A truck camper turned out to be the answer. It is amazing how much can be packed into something that fits on the back of a pickup truck (it is a really big truck!). We are looking forward to our first truck camper trip next year. We just need to wait for them to build it.
